Former teacher sentenced to year in jail for sex with teen girl | Crime
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
A former teacher was sentenced to a year in jail Friday after pleading guilty to having sex with a teenage girl.
Scott Allan Spies was sentenced on Friday afternoon by King County Superior Court Judge Jay White at the Regional Justice Center in Kent. Spies had originally pled not guilty last year, but according to King County prosecutors, he changed his plea to guilty on a charge of first degree sexual contact with a minor last week. He was originally also charged with third degree child rape, but that charge was dropped.
One year in jail was the maximum that Judge White could give, as the range was 6-12 months.
Spies was a religion teacher at Auburn Adventist Academy, but was fired after his arrest. He was accused of having sexual relations with a girl starting when she was 15-years-old. She was 16 when Spies was arrested.
